Principles of the Biodiversity and Forest Conservation Policy
- We strive to minimize the impact on biodiversity and forests at all stages of our business operations. In cases where biodiversity or forests are damaged, we make every effort to restore them through methods such as habitat restoration and site closure.
- We recognize international conventions related to biodiversity and land protection (e.g., World Heritage Areas, IUCN Category I-IV Protected Areas), and we comply with national and local laws at relevant sites. When necessary, we will actively collaborate with external expert organizations and professional groups. We also establish and implement measures to minimize impacts, and disclose our implementation plans, progress, community engagement efforts, and project outcomes.
- We identify areas directly or indirectly affected by our business activities in terms of biodiversity and forests. When necessary, monitor protected areas and other areas of high biodiversity value both inside and outside our business sites to manage our impact on biodiversity. If damage to biodiversity or forests is unavoidable, we will strive to minimize losses by creating alternative habitats or forests in other locations.
- We make every effort to protect and monitor species that are endangered or pose a high biodiversity risk.
- We work to enhance the knowledge and understanding of biodiversity protection issues by providing relevant information to employees and stakeholders.
- We seek to establish procedures to assess biodiversity and deforestation risks within our supply chain and will promote environmentally responsible management systems in collaboration with our suppliers to protect the environment.
